Aubrey's First Week

I can't believe it's been a whole week since this little miracle entered our lives!  She is a really good newborn- she eats well, sleeps well, and pees and poops :-)  The first few days she screamed pretty much every time she was awake, but the last half of the week she's been more peaceful and alert.

Her crying has not yet woken Langley up, which is a huge blessing.  Each day seems to get a little easier insome aspect.  Josh and I have both made comments throughout the week about how blessed we are with these sweet little girls.  They are truly so sweet - not perfect - but precious.

The jealousy factor is the worst when both parents are home, but we have tried very hard to give Langley extra attention when we can.  Monday morning when I was scrambling to get out the door for Aubrey's appointment, Langley was really acting out.  I finally just said, "I know why you're acting this way, but your just going to have to be a big girl right now.  I can't hold you or play right now, but I still love you - STOP WHINING."  God love 'em, both girls have been troopers this week!

Today has been my best day.  I'm feeling more emotionally level and physially capable of caring for 2 small children all day.  Aubrey's eating/sleeping and my pumping schedule allowed for a lot of one on one time with Langley today which was good.  We even got outside for a walk with Langley on the tricycle and Aubrey in the sling.

And now for pictures...

On the Go

This title is decieving because we have been pretty homebound since leaving the hospital!

Here we are ready to be discharged.

She looks so miniature in the carseat.

Langley and I ventured to WM Sunday.

And today I took Aubrey to the doctor for her first check-up.  She weighed 6 lb 11 oz, is a little jaundiced, but otherwise perfect and healthy.  Thank you Lord!

This was the 3rd car ride for her.  She is very wide eyed and alert for awhile before falling asleep as we drive.

Also today we walked over to meet her friend Kinsley!  Kinsley is exactly 1 week older than Aubrey.

Two precious girls!

I absolutely do not feel ready to take Langley and Aubrey anywhere by myself.  We took a family trip to Sonic the other day and Langley just talked and talked - some to Aubrey and some narrarating to us what was going on.  She calls Aubrey, "Bah-ee,"  all day it's "bah-ee cry, bah-ee paci, bah-ee peeting (sleeping,) bah-ee milk."

Aubrey Piearce Austin

Aubrey arrived May 1 at 12:05 pm.  Monday was a long night in the hospital with not much labor and even less sleep.

However, after my water was broken at 7:20 am Tuesday things went pretty quickly!  Contractions started immediately and were 2 minutes apart.  I got an epidural just after 9:00 am and got to be the class project for 7 nurse anesthetist students.  A little awkward but a funny memory!

I progressed about a cm an hour and when I got to 6 the intense pressure hit, just like with Langley.  I was out of my mind in pain and complete in no time!

I pushed for 45 minutes despite Aubrey being 2 pounds smaller, because she was face up.  Aubrey weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces, and was 20 inches long.  She has a head full of brown hair but looks a lot like her big sister did at birth.

Everything went smoothly, it is unbelievable how much better I feel after this birth.  Aubrey is so sweet and tiny!

We took pictures on every device we own, but here are the ones from the ipod...coming in handy as I do this one handed holding a sleeping baby on my chest!

Langley's Black Eye, More From Today, and a Poll

Langley has a week.  First she ran fever for a few days.  It got up to 102.4 due to teething, her bottom k9's are coming through.  She also has some major allergies and just did not feel good.   To make everything better, she ran directly into the corner of the table in our entry way on Thursday.  This picture doesn't do it justice - the girl has a major shiner!

Confession:  I tried to put concealer under her eye before pictures.

Now for the Poll:  Time to guess Aubrey's weight, height, and hair color!

Rachel's guess:  8lbs, 9oz; 21 inches, dark hair.
Josh's guess:  8lbs, 12 oz; 21 inches, dark hair.

Leave your guess in the comments!!  I'll compile a list for fun...there is no real prize, just the satisfacton of winning :-)

To help with your guestimations, here's some info:  Langley was 9lbs, 3 oz born at exactly 40 weeks.  I gained 40 pounds during that pregnancy and I lived near lots of yummy fast food and restaraunts.  With Aubrey, I've gained 25 pounds this pregnancy.  She will be born at 39 weeks, 1 day.  I live in the middle of nowhere.

Austin Family of 3

We tried!  Our last picture attempt before Aubrey!  Most of them turned out bad and/or funny!

Too bad about my hair...

And the self-timer attempts...

This was how most of them ended up!
