Memorial Day

We had a quiet day at home this Memorial Day. We've just enjoyed spending time together. Langley has been so sweet. First, this morning, she played by herself for awhile.

We headed outside and took some pictures. She looks so grown up in her little t-shirt and jeans!

Yes, I bought a kiddie pool, and yes, I got in it. I know. It's the "redneck riviera" in my backyard.
This was Langley's very first swimming experience.

She wasn't too sure about it, but she didn't cry. We waited a few hours after we set it up to let the water warm up. She just looked too cute in her swimsuit and hat. I was excited that I got a little sun, too!
Thank you to all our soldiers who are serving and who have served! We are grateful!

MIA

There's been a lot going on, but I've sort of had writers block this week. Just no energy to blog, I guess. Quick update: the CBC Lady Mustangs won the NCCAA National Tournament; I resigned from my job; and Langley will be 3 months old the same day my dad turns 50!

Did you catch that? Yes, I will be officially a stay-at-home-mom beginning June 11! I would never be able to fully describe the miracles God has worked to make this possible. I will say that God is so faithful, he truly will give you the desires of your heart when you are seeking His face! I planned to leave CBC in June and then spend a few months at home full time, looking for a part time job with morning hours. Well, another prayer was answered immediatley...I will be teaching and advising at CBC part time! So, June 10 is my last day...lots of mixed emotions, but I know this is the right situation for this season in life.

All that being said, I will be eating a lot of PB&J and you may notice a lot of "it's the thought that counts"type gifts :-) She is more than worth every sacrifice!!!!

Can we be friends?

Henry keeps trying :-)

I'm up at 5:30 am on a Saturday

and here's what is going on in my mind...

1. I love Babies R Us. It must be because I don't get to go very often, but buying diapers, wipes, and bottles there last night was just way more fun than at Wal-Mart. I used to be that way with Kroger too. Just buying normal groceries at Kroger in Hot Springs was just fun because we didn't have one in Arkadelphia. Am I the only weirdo who gets excited about such things?

2. I can't wait for Langley to wear her new monogrammed things I ordered from Olioh! I still can't believe the onesie was only $5.50.

3. The new lip smacking thing Langley started yesterday is so funny. She's not hungry when she does it.

4. My heart could burst every time she laughs out loud, I really hope I can get it on video. I wonder when she'll roll over. I will want that on video too. I don't know how to upload videos on the blog. Maybe I should practice.

5. I need to make plans for next weekend and buy Brooke a graduation present. Wow, Brooke is graduating from high school...and going to OBU! She's so pretty. I hope she stays away from the tools who will want to date her and find nice boys to date. I can't wait to see her in Tiger Tunes.

6. I really need my hair done.

7. I need to get Langley on a solid nap schedule. I'm glad she's been taking more naps in her bed. She likes to nap on her tummy sometimes. I should take a nap today since I'm up right now. Oh look the sun is coming up.

Playing Catch Up Again

Saturday: CBC Graduation! Ryan Barnes and Rodderick Briggs got their diplomas! Josh was such a proud Papa Bear! I was on the stage [crying, by the way,] so Josh was the photographer during the ceremony. After graduation, we went on a date. Thank you God for sushi. Oh, California and Spicy Tuna rolls how I've missed you! Langley stayed with Christi and made me a Mother's Day craft. It is so cute and special with her hand and foot prints! I also found the lost bag of Langley's sentimental clothes that I put away and forgot where. The bag was in MY closet. On a hanger. Whatever.

Sunday: Mother's Day! Langley made me another Mother's Day craft at Sunday School. So precious! And apparently she was a little more cooperative with her hands this time :-) Langley also got to meet Courtney for the first time.

Monday: work and started feeling worse. I got in bed early dressed in sweats and covered up with 2 comforters, still shivering. Can we say fever?
Tuesday: went to the doctor. Langley got to stay with Sarah and was so happy and took a nap when I got her back so apparently she had a great time! I have a $6 perscription for a sinus infection and these two cuties now at home with me...

Seriously, the above picture makes me laugh for so many reasons.
Josh had to go on a recruiting trip, but he also got to meet his new cousin baby Porter! He went on and on about how tiny he was and how Langley could eat him...or maybe they should be friends. When Josh got home he was holding Langley and says aloud, "I wonder if she can smell Porter on me." I about died laughing!
Hopefully I'll feel better soon and no one else in the house gets sick. I've scheduled other posts for the week in case I don't feel like blogging :-)

Mother's Day

With Josh and I ALL Holidays have glitches or are somehow stressful or cause tears. I don't know why, it just always happens. I'm so happy for all of you who have perectly blissful anniveraries, birthdays, Christmases and Mother's Days, it just doesn't work that way for us. Nontheless, we love each other, our child, and our family and friends. So, I guess we don't need a perfect holiday to make others feel special.

Mother's Day was good. I did not take the time to soak it in like I should have. I am a mother! To a beautiful and healthy baby girl! Oh my word!

On my "perfectly imperfect" first Mother's Day, I was late to church, started getting a cold, and had a baby cry for nearly 2 straight hours (this is very out of the ordinary.) My gift is a work in progress, a flower bed and sod for my front yard, but I did get some sweet cards that morning. I also got to see family and friends, had some very sweet messages, and got to stand up in church and be recognized with all the other mothers.

I only took 1 picture the whole day, and don't have it downloaded yet. The best gift I got all day was Langley NOT crying or screaming while I gave her a bath. Thank you, sweet girl, I couldn't have asked for more!

48-1

The CBC Softball team is 48-1. Yeah, take that. I fully expect them to win the NCCAA National Tournament this year, and be a national contender in the NAIA next year. I love softball, especially on a perfect spring day, especially when "my" team is shutting everyone out! I've only made it to a few games, and when we're batting, it's exciting. But, our pitching is so good, it's almost boring when we are in the field.

Channel 11 did a nice piece on our Lady Mustangs, but as with Men's Basketball, they just don't get enough love from the local media. So, good luck girls! We are proud of you!

My First Toad Suck Daze

By Langley:

Mom was home Friday and she dressed me in this outfit and kept telling me how "festive" I was for Toad Suck Daze with the "toad" on my shirt. It was nasty weather off and on, but Mom and Dad took me down town around 5:00 pm Friday.

First, we stopped at the Toad Store and I got a real Toad Suck Daze shirt to wear in a few months.

Then, we crossed the train tracks and went to "Stuck on a Truck." I just looked around and got to meet Megan! There were still lots of people stuck to the truck, they were only 28 hours in.

Then, these fun people made an appearance...

After a few minutes, Mom and Dad got a "chicken on a stick," walked around for a few minutes, then we came home!
We didn't get to go back because it was bad weather most of the weekend. In fact, I survived my first tornado last night in the bathroom with Mom and Henry. Mommy was very relieved when the sirens stopped and Daddy came home.
Mommy says one day I can race a toad and do the "toadie woadie." But, this year, I liked just riding in my stroller and looking at all the crazy people!

2 Months Old!

Langley is two months old! I took her pictures on her 8-week birthday :-) She is wearing one of my baby dresses, just for you Mimi!

My baby is growing so fast. She is babbling more, enjoys the bumbo, gaining neck control, and smiles every day! I just love her! She is weighing about 11 pounds and is getting so long. She stays awake most of the day, just taking little cat naps, and sleeps very well at night. She is not on a strict schedule because I'm not home to keep her on one, but she is pretty predictable and normally will eat, be awake, then sleep. She is on all formula and eats 4 oz 7 times a day.

I've learned that sometimes she just wants to be alone. As I type this, she is awake in the swing just looking around and content. The playmat is more and more popular especially when she can bat at the animals and rattles. She is a good traveler and I often catch her looking at herself in her monkey mirror on the backseat. Her relationship with the paci is unpredictable, sometimes it's a must, or we may go a full day without it.

Every night when we put her to bed, we swaddle her then pray over her. It's my second favorite time of the time. My favorite time of the day is waking her up in the morning, watching her stretch and normally getting a big smile while I change her. Then, I feed her, drink my coffee, and we read if there is time. On mornings I'm not going in to the office we play in the floor for awhile and I do my devotional in her room with her.
Some of my favorite out-takes from the 2month photo shoot...

I love her more each day.
