Goodies

Here are some good/funny things going on:

1. Sunday, we took Langley to big church with us so she wouldn't hack all over the other kids in her class.  She did well, but about 1/2 way through the sermon I had to take her out in the hallway.  She was twirling around and looking out the window when a little boy and his dad walked by.  This little boy is around 8 years old I would guess.  I don't know them and I don't know his challenges, but I think he is severely autistic.  I AM IN NO WAY MAKING FUN OF THIS CHILD OR HIS FAMILY.  I AM NOT MAD AT ALL.  BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO ME WAS HILARIOUS.  The little boy and his dad walked by again and just as they passed us, the boy reached up and grabbed my boob.  Then just kept walking.

Ya'll.

I must have made a shocked face or Langley saw what happened because she said "Oh, no mommy! oh no!"  I didn't say a word and I just started doing the uncontrollable church laugh. After I pulled myself together, I couldn't wait to tell Josh.  Who does this happen to?!  I mean the most awkward/embarrassing/crazy things happen to me!

2.  Langley called me into the bathroom the other day as she finished doing her business.  I will never forget seeing her sitting on the pot with a sombrero on her head.

3. We've been cheering on the WBC softball team in the NAIA national tournament.  They finished 4th in the country with a 46-9 record!

4.  Aubrey is pulling up and cruising along everything.  She's getting a lot more verbal and is just fun!

5.  In the midst of all the sickness and sucky week, I've still managed to make 3 new recipes (from pinterest) that were all delish!  I made lemon bars, reese's freezer pie, and hawaiian chicken with coconut rice.

6.  We got spend time at the Mccarty's and Norvell's on Memorial Day.  We love our neighbors!

7.  Langley is 3'4 and weighs 34lbs.

Perseverance

It's been a long week or so.  Langley is still a little sick.  Well enough to go to school for a couple of hours, but bad enough that the doctor thought she had pneumonia yesterday when I took her back for a follow up.  She felt better a few days but we can't get rid of the drainage and her lungs are yucky.  Of course I caught a cold and Aubrey started today with a raspy cough and runny nose.  Lovely.

Also yesterday we found out another contract on our house was lost.  We got an offer, countered, then the people totally bailed because they "got cold feet about their financing."  Our realtor said this has not happened in his career.  Nice.  If it's going to happen, it will definitely involve us.

So with the bad news with the house, plus the pneumonia scare yesterday sucked.  And I burnt my arm on the grill while making dinner. And if the sickness does not LEAVE US ALONE then we will have to cancel plans we had for next week (which we were looking forward to.)   I know all of these things are very small compared to what some people are facing, but nonetheless it was a hard day for me.  All I could pray last night when I put Aubrey to bed was "God have mercy on us.  Just let us sleep."

Here are some random pictures.

Saturday morning snuggles

Aubrey's very last bottle. Last Thursday (i think.)  She doesn't miss it. Just a milestone  since it's the last bottle of my parenting career.

Langley's first breathing treatment ever.  We had to do this before the xray of her lungs.  She was running through the hospital singing the song from Doc McStuffins.  "I feel better! So much better!"  Not your typical pneumonia patient I don't think.  We now own a "sammy the seal" nebulizer, hopefully we don't have to use it often.  She is such a trooper.

Heavy Heart

My heart is so heavy today for such sadness and hardship people have been facing recently.  3 things specifically have been on my heart today.

One, obviously being the tornado victims in Oklahoma.  My hometown was hit by a huge tornado when I was in jr high.  Every time I hear of another devastating storm, my heart hurts.  While my home was not destroyed, I can relate to the emotions that come from a town having to recover from such devastation and loss.

I've also been praying for the Taylor family in Jonesboro.  I went to college with Lynsey but I don't know her personally.  She is battling cancer for the second time.  She and her husband have 4 children.  From what I understand the prognosis is not good.  Not good at all.  I can't even fathom the sadness, fear, and hundreds of other emotions they face on a daily basis.  And ya'll, this family loves Jesus.  The testimony from their story has already been absolutely beautiful.

I'm also just so sad for the family and friends of Sydney Randall.  The 14 year old from our small town went missing a few months ago and her body was found in the river just this weekend.  So much sadness associated with this story, but I pray God will bring closure and healing.

These stories put things in perspective for me.  My Langley is sick and we had a bad experience with a new doctor's office, but my goodness I can hold my baby tonight and that's a blessing I will not take for granted.

Praying.

Just Some Updates

We had a contract to sell our house in conway, but after several delays at the VERY end of the closing process, we had to terminate the contract.  Back to square 1.  We did several things to upgrade the house while it was under contract per the buyer's request, including a brand new roof.  So, spread the word:  1501 square feet, brand new roof, new AC (installed April 2011,)  fha compliant, 3 bed, 2 bath, walk in master closet, fridge included (along with stove, dishwasher, and disposal,)  1 car garage, fenced back yard with a shed, walking distance to Julia Lee Moore Elementary.  $107,900. Contact Donny Marple with McDowell Properties.  Go!  Go!

Langley has a pretend "pink house" and talks about it constantly.  As in, I eat waffels at my pink house!      I have a bear at my pink house!  I tell daddy I spill my drink at my pink house!  I told her the other day I can't wait to visit her pink house.  She told me it was just a fun game.

We are surviving 3, but we have had our moments.  Attitude.  Inability to communicate all her feelings.  Frustration.  Preferences.  Testing boundaries.  But, there are good moments.  Dancing.  Funny stories.  Library books.  Lots of hugs and kisses.  Singing.  Oh, and sleeping past 6 am!

Aubrey still only has 2 teeth.  She naps and sleeps like a champ.  She smiles at everyone everywhere we go.  She wants to stand and walk, but is just not there yet.  She loves bath time, especially when we bathe them together! Her language is hilarious.  Her babble totally has inflection, pauses, just like a real conversation with no real words.

Josh is busy recruiting and planning team camp.  We are enjoying our afternoons and evening together and getting to grill and be outside.  I really like this time of the year.

I Love Mother's Day

I am so blessed to be a mommy to these two! (Isn't the AC unit a a nice touch to this picture?  Ha.)

We've done nothing out of the ordinary today, but it's been so nice.  It's a day I always pause and give thanks for the gift of motherhood.  It's hard.  It's a huge responsibility.  It's humbling.  It's often thankless.  But I'll treasure these girls forever!

I also pause and pray for those who hate mother's day.  Maybe they long for motherhood or have lost a child, or have lost their mother. You are not forgotten.

I'm so grateful for my mother, grandmothers, and mother in law.  Today, I celebrate them and the impact they continue to have on my life and in the life of my daughters! Happy mother's day!

Random Phone Pics

Sent these sister pics to Josh while he was gone.

The Lord has equipped me in many ways to raise girls.  Braiding hair is not one of those ways.  At least she's 3 and thinks it looks fab :-)

Serious breakfast faces.
Pure joy.

My lunch dates.  He did eventually put down the phone and she did eventually  start whining and yelling.

Afternoon Fun

Langley and I played outside yesterday afternoon while Aubrey finished her nap.  She played on her vehicles and mowed and we chased henry and played tag.  All that fun resulted in Langley havinga huge blister on each of her feet due to wearing her crocs on the wrong foot and running for an hour.  Mom of the year.  I'm not even going to try putting shoes on her today, because I know it would hurt :-(
