More or Less

Last Friday and Saturday were Aubrey's best days yet.  Really the 4th week has been pretty good except for Sunday and Wednesday mornings.

There has been more of this...

And less of this...

My New Favorite Picture

of Aubrey.

Yes, I know there is a crazy string from her unraveling gown, I promise I handled it after I took this picture.

Let Me Tell You About Langley

Langley is such a joy.  She has been so good, patient, and loving since becoming a big sister.  Sometimes more patient than me, I think.  Here are some things I want to remember about her at almost 27 months old.

Talks from the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep.  This of course is a blessing and a curse.  We have to enforce quiet, no talking time occasionally because she's a repeater.  Oh, she repeats.  Over and Over.  Her vocabulary and speech has really improved in the last few weeks.  Most of the time she is asking "what's that?!"  She assigns ownership to everything...daddy's car, mommy's shoes, Langleys juice, Aubrey's room.  As I type she is running circles around the kitchen yelling "apples juice!  apples juice!"  Apples not apple.  I still have to be her main translator bc most people have no idea what she's saying if it's more than 1 or 2 words at a time.

Loves the Fresh Beat Band.  Her favorite show inspires her to sing and dance constantly.  She loves to dance around in circles, hold our hands and dance, and sings mostly unidentifiable songs all day.  The FBB songs are the main tunes that get stuck in my head.  You know you have a toddler when you hum these songs to yourself all.day.long.

Very interested and initiates a lot of dialogue about the potty.  She even has taken her diaper off and peed in her bed a few times.  I'm not ready.  Not yet.  She probably is, though.

As far as the "terrible twos"  she's typical.  She either totally obeys or totally disobeys.  It's all or nothing with her.  I think when she ran away from me (1 week after giving birth) down the middle of our street  and would not stop was probably the worst thing she's done. so far.   It scared me to death and infuriated me.    Tantrums will happen if she's tired or hungry.  We live by nap and eating times, so we always know if she's a ticking time bomb or not.

We couldn't love her more.

3 Weeks Old

I officially started Aubrey on an eat/wake/sleep routine yesterday and we did pretty well!

  • She's still squishy and makes the funniest faces.
  • Still has her umbilical cord.  So ready for that thing to be gone!
  • Josh and I have been alternating getting up with her in the middle of the night.  Normally it only once around 2:30, so that has been awesome!
  • Tracks me well with her eyes, they still cross often.
  • The baby acne started this week.  It's not awful yet, mostly on her forehead.

Sunday

Josh and Langley went to church this morning and Aubrey is napping, so I'm having some peace and quiet.  Aubrey has had some better days and continues to have good nights.

One thing that is baffling me about her is that she has screamed her head off for 15+ minutes both times I've taken the girls for a walk in the double stroller.  She hates it, goes crazy, and makes Langley and I so miserable.  What baby hates walks and being outside?!

It's a small thing and I know it (hopefully) will pass.  We don't have anything to do around where we live so going on walks is a neccessity.

We've enjoyed our weekend so far just spending time together as our family of 4.

Pics of my precious girls...

not sure what  what that is on her nose...i think it's from the red eye correction and I'm too lazy to go back and fix it...

In Her Own Bed

Aubrey spent last night in her own room for the first time.  She had been in the pack and plaiy in our room, but after 2 long nights we decided to adjust some things, including moving her into her own bed.  Langley slept in her own bed very early on as well.  This time we have a video monitor, which is comforting since we have a little one that doesn't want to be swaddled all night or sleep on her back all the time.  (Things are so different this time around!)

Here is some info about Aubrey at 2 1/2 weeks old:
- sleeps great.  will go a couple of 4 or 5 hour stretches each night.  Thank you, Jesus.  Amen.
- eats a lot.  I still right down each time I feed her and it's like at least 9 times in a 24 hour period.  She has not had a lot of tummy problems and doesn't spit up much, but we've used the mylicon with her more than Langley used it.
- hates the sling, but loves the bjorn.
- does not have much awake and happy time.  Tuesday and Wednesday were hard days here.  She screamed a lot.  I've had to learn how she likes to be soothed...still have to learn.  She has at least 2 "yuck" times of the day.  Normally mid-morning (which sucks because this was L and I's most productive/happy time of the day,) and whenever we try to eat dinner.  I'm praying she becomes a happy and content little girl very soon.  She still sleeps most of the time and she's still tiny, but she doesn't seem content hardly at all.
- hates the bouncy seat, and tolerates the swing for short amounts of time.
- is very unpatient.
- is very loved.  Langley even loves her despite the screaming :-)  The first thing out of her mouth every morning is "where bah-ee?"  They did have some sweet sister time yesterday afternoon sitting on the couch and talking.  It's those little moments from God that remind me we are ok, we are going to make it.
- is so cute and tiny.  Has long, blonde eyelashes, big blue eyes, and a newly developed double chin :-)

Sorry no pictures, I'm too tired tonight!

What We've Been Up To

Sleeping pretty good!

Checking things out from the bouncy seat.

Making the first trip to WM with both girls by myself.

 Spending more time awake.

Going to the doctor.  She gained 4 oz in 4 days, up to 6.15!  No more jaundice!  We go back for her 1 month appointment in a few weeks.

Adjusting to our new normal and loving on my little girls!
