On the Eve of Three

In an hour or so Langley will turn 3.

3 years ago I was huge.  Gigantic.  And scared to death.  And, if I would have known I was about to give birth to a 9 pound, 3 ounce baby I would have probably been admitted to the psych ward rather than the women's clinic.

My life was totally different then.  Langley rocked our world.  She made me a mother, taught me about unconditional, sacrificial love, and brought more joy into our lives than we could have ever imagined.

Tonight, 3 years later, I sat with Langley and Aubrey and watched my husband win a first round tournament game.  The 19th win this season.  A WBC record for most wins in a season.  God is so good.

Langley's favorite part of the game is half-time...

Recap

Here's a recap of our week in list form.  The pictures have nothing to do with anything.

-  Josh played in his annual -once- a- year- intramural- basketball appearance.  Apparently he was the leading scorer.  Of course he hurt his knee.  He gets hurt (thank goodness usually minor) every year.

-We had senior night.  The girls and I were happy to stand with Rashad.  We won the game and tied the school record for most wins in a season.

-Our toilet overflowed - majorly- right before the game.  I don't handle poop floods very well.

- We had some ice this week.  School was cancelled one day but, thankfully, it was not bad for us.

- Aubrey still won't crawl. She's all over the place.  Scooting, backing up, rolling, but not crawling.

- We (finally) lowered Aubrey's bed.

- Today is the last game of the regular season.  We've survived.  And, God has been good to "us" on the basketball court this year.  I cleaned the kitchen and cried thinking about our seniors yesterday.

The Joys of Sisterhood

1.  Langley pushes Aubrey for touching a toy she was playing with.

2.  Aubrey seizes the moment in revenge.

I laughed my face off when I saw the 2nd picture. She was not really hurt (needed to clarify,) but her face and body position are so dramatic. I was really trying to get a normal picture of them playing on the floor together to send to Josh, but I guess we were all a little too tired to accomplish that.

3 for [almost] 3

She's almost 3 years old.  It hurts my heart.

To me, 3 years old is officially "not a baby anymore."  It means a new class at school and at church.

I want to cry.

All the Single Ladies

We had a lovely V-day, even though my man is working 5 hours away.  Go Eagles!

The girls liked their new books and goodies.

My mom came up to visit and she got to go with us to Langley's school party!

She partied it up!

We had a good gal-entines day!

(I will admit that I did get some beautiful flowers from my husband!)

Sweet Girls

I'm giving up Facebook for lent, but I'm still going to blog.
Yes, I go to a baptist church and no, lent is not required.  It's just something I feel led to do (not every year.)

AAAAND it's Monday...

The girls and I survived another weekend alone.  Josh had a game in Kansas City.  My annual end-of-January meltdown has already passed (clearly since it's February,) but let's just say I'm over it.  "It" being the single-parenting of basketball season.  But, we've had a decent season (15-9) and there's 5 games left of regular season = Light at the end of the tunnel!!

This is Aubrey's serious look.  We call it the "small mouth" and think it's hilarious.

The night before they left for KC the team went to Kyle's parent's house to eat dinner and Langley got to go.  Josh said she was so good and he genuinely enjoyed the time with her.  Sweet girl.

We did normal stuff here, didn't leave the house accept for one grocery store run, made a craft, watched some movies, and Aubrey started clapping and went from tummy to sitting once.  Josh got home at 2:30 Sunday morning and we made it to church.  The girls took good naps (they usually do on Sundays!), I went to WM, and we went on a family walk.

I also discovered the joy that a $2.47 box of valentines can bring my child.  It took her 5 seconds to pick out the princess ones.  They also come with a poster.  Stop it.  She's thrilled.  So, take that pinterest...no homemade valentine I could have imagined would have made her this happy!

Speaking of pinterest, I do love it and I have actually done some things I've pinned.  When I complete one, I move it to the "I actually did it!" board.  Here's a pinterest recipe I did last week for chicken tenderloin.

Like Cracker Barrel in Lawrence County.  Yum.

Happy Monday.

So far this week...

Langley experienced her first book fair at her school.  She was super excited!  After figuring out very quickly that letting her pick the books wasn't going to work (complete meltdown,) I picked out a Clifford book and a Doc McStuffins book and handed them to her when I picked her up the next day. She was thrilled!

We had the team over last night for taco soup and banana pudding.  Fun was had by all.

Aubrey had her 9 month check up.  She is perfect and weighs 19 POUNDS and 3 OUNCES.  I had no clue she had grown that much!

We took Langley to Aubrey's appointment because she needed to have her ears rechecked since finishing antibiotics and she started complaining of some other discomfort last night.  It worked out perfectly because A already had the appointment and Josh could go and help me wrangle both girls.  L has a common side effect of taking antibiotics when you don't eat enough yogurt. (If you don't figure it out, it's kind of a girl thing.)  Bless her heart!  But her ears look great :-)

February Love

And the portion of the post where I have no shame/hilarious pictures are shared...

Just keeping it real.
