I kept thinking all day, "we survived!" The past two years have been really hard for several reasons, but last year was the hardest year of my life. There have been many many blessings, but as a family we have been in the midst of some trials, now! "Spiritual conditioning" if you will.
Aubrey has taught us so much. Josh and I both comment about how it just fills us up with joy each and every time she smiles (which is a lot!) There were some months that we weren't sure she would ever smile. Ever.
So, we celebrated our baby with a few toys and singing happy birthday and just trying to make her day extra special. My mom came to visit for a few hours that day. That evening we took the girls to build a bear to get Aubrey a bear and Langley another outfit for her bear.
Aubrey was about 2% interested in the bear :-)
A funny memory: my vehicle had to have some electrical panels (or something) replaced so the dealership gave us a loaner car to drive for the day. Believe it or not, this car had 4 doors. Our trip to build a bear was a little uncomfortable for the 4 of us crammed in - especially for daddy.
