6 weeks old

Langley's First Day of School!!

We are so thankful that we found a part time preschool for Langley!  She started today!

She will go 3 days a week for a few hours.  She'll eat lunch there and take a nap...we'll see how she adjusts!

She is c.r.a.z.y.

We tried to get a "first day of school picture."

We talked all the way to school..."where daddy?"  "daddy work?"  "Pawpaw's tar?(guitar)"  Then, "where michael?"  [she hasn't seen michael (assistant coach) in weeks] I said, I guess he's at his house.  She responds "aww, Mike."  Hilarious.  I was talking about her school, her teacher's name, what she would do, how she needed to share, and be kind, and obey."  She was worried about Mike.

We got to her school and her class was just finishing breakfast so we put up her bag and the other kids started coming to greet her.  I was talking with one of her teachers and stepped out to turn in some paper work.  I went back to peek in her room and she was right in the group.  She didn't even know I was gone.

I cried all the way home.

I expect her to have a GREAT experience, I really like her teachers and the facility, and I know that this is good for her [and me.]

Flower Girl Weekend

Josh's cousin Rebecca got married last weekend in OKC.  That is a super far drive for us, so Aubrey and I stayed back and let Josh and Langley have a fun weekend together.  We were sad we missed all the festivities, but it was really the best decision.

Langley was one of the flower girls and my heart hurt knowing I would miss her walking down the aisle.  Josh did good sending me pictures and keeping me updated.  All the photos were taken on his phone and I can't get them rotated, but I couldn't NOT post this level of precious!

The above photo makes me want to talk trash to all those crazies on toddlers and tiaras.  My child would win every one of those pageants!!! We are not putting her in child pageants, so you can all breathe a sigh of relief. Ultimate Grand Supreme right here.
I nearly died when I got this picture.  Langley looks beautiful...and 20 years old.

Langley got to walk down the aisle with aunt Amber, or "bear" as Langley says.  By all accounts she did amazing.  Keep in mind she is 2, had no nap, and had no clue what was going on!  She had fake corn on the cob and hot dog in her flower basket.  Josh said when it was her turn to walk she saw all the petals on the ground and said "uh-oh!"  I guess she was afraid her job was to pick them all up.

She stood during the whole ceremony.  I think she got a little embrassed and had her head down most of the time.

Beautiful bride Rebecca...

Langley got to dance at the reception!  Dancing is her thing right now, but she just turns in circles.  She is just little miss personality.

I'm so proud of my beautiful girl, how well she did on the long car ride, how well she adapted to being away from home, and her excellent behavior last weekend!

Josh also had a great time AND he got to go to the Thunder playoff game thanks to the bride and groom :-)
Aubrey and I had a good weekend together.  She had 2 really good days  and to be honest, I finally got to fall in love with that baby girl!  I've loved her since the second I knew she existed, but because of her issues and caring for everyone else on top of a newborn, I hadn't had a chance to actually enjoy her.  I cherished our time alone.

First Time at Church

We all went to church last Sunday.  Getting everyone ready and out the door actually went very smoothly, but the rest of the trip stressed. me. out.

Aubrey screamed at least 20 of the 35 minute trip to and from church.  We got to church and I fed her in the car because we were early and she was going nuts.  Josh took Langley to her class and got us a seat.  I knew Aubrey would not tolerate the car seat, so I carried her and all our crap in.  As I'm getting out of the car, I spilled my entire cup of water in my seat.

I got inside and she was still hungry, so  she ate her bottle and enjoyed the music.  I was very afraid she would burp or poop very loudly while everyone was quiet.  But no, she made it about 5 minutes of the sermon and then wailed.  She had been eating/burping/sleeping and then just yelled.  I scooped her and the bottle and a burp rag up and booked it out to the lobby.  She drank from the same freakin' bottle for an hour and a half.  I was sweating and exhausted (I held her the entire time.)  After church I was sure she would sleep - her tummy was full and she'd been awake since 6 am.  Oh no, she screamed on the way home.

I was scarred.  It took me days to get over this experience.  It's like I had to forgive her!  We won't be going back until I can take her to the nursery.

Here we are before the trauma- yes she was crying.  Langley wore the same little dress the first time she went to church.

fake smiles...

1 Month Old

Our little Aubrey is 1 month old today!

She is such a blessing.  The past month has been hard.  She cries a lot.  We don't know why and many times can't calm her down.  It breaks my heart, frustrates me to death, and makes me feel so defeated.

She is healthy and we are praying she "grows out  of this" whole unhappy/screaming/colic thing soon.

I took her to her check up today, here are the details:

Weight:  8 pounds, 11 oz
Height:  20 3/4 inches
Head:  14 1/2

I got my money's worth out of my APN today!  First, there is the issue of Aubrey's eyes.  Both eyes have clogged tear ducts.  They always look nasty.  I now have a rx for eye ointment and instructions to massage the junk out of her eye.  This is sure to be pleasant.

Next, there was the umbilical cord.  Yep, she still had it!  It was removed today.

We moved on to the fussy/crying/screaming issue.  I have a rx for gas drops in case mylicon isn't cutting it.  She also sent me home with Gentlease formula for when I start that transition - which will probably be soon.  It's awful not knowing if it's what I'm eating or not, if she's hurting or not, or if she just hates her life :-)  Formula would eliminate one of those worries.

Then, there was the bloody nose.  Aubrey has had some major boogers, but this morning woke up with one bloody nostril and a huge dried booger on the other.  So, she had to remove a huge one from the bloody side of her nose which explained the blood.

Finally there was the normal baby acne and rashes and we confirmed a birthmark on her hiney.

I'm so thankful for Aubrey!  She is healthy and will one day be happy!

Aubrey wears newborn clothes.  Some 0-3 months fit, some are huge.  She's in size 1 diapers, because I have a big stockpile of size 1 and we ran out of newborn.

She sleeps well, normally waking up once at night and then we start the day at 7:00 am.

We've done tummy time a few mornings.  She tolerates it for a few minutes. I also try to read to her and talk to her a few minutes before Langley gets up.

Things she is fickle about (sometimes liking sometimes hating:)
paci
bouncy seat
swing
swaddle
bjorn
carseat/being in the car

She always hates:
baths
sling
spitting up
being cold

We LOVE this baby.  Not sure how she feels about us sometimes :-)

Summer is Here!

We celebrated Memorial Day at our house with friends!  The McCarty's and Moffetts got to come over.  We made the guys supervise the toddlers outside while the ladies and babies stayed in the AC!

We ate and talked and had a great time!  After our company left, everything went down hill.  There was the rush to get the girls in bed, clean up from the party inside and outside, PLUS clean every inch of the laundry room where Henry was because he peed gallons and then did who-knows-what to spread it everywhere.  I really wanted to kill him.

After that we finally got to bed then Langley woke up crying at 230 because she had thrown up.  I felt awful for her!!  We got her back to bed, then Aubrey woke up to eat.  She threw up on me twice.  Then, I made myself sick worrying that I had poisoned everyone at my party!!

Thankfully no one else was sick.  We think Langley got dehydrated.  Daddy forgot that even though she was in the water, she needs to drink in 95 degree weather.  She played out there for a few hours and then came in and ate like a horse...that was the perfect combination for puking in the middle of the night.  Yikes!

Anyway, how cute is this girl?!
